Registered Nurse – ICU

About the role

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care environment. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role requires strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex patient needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and established standards of care
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Monitor and document patient condition and response to treatment
  • Coordinate care with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supervise and delegate care to LPNs, RNs (permit), and support staff
  • Administer medications and manage critical care equipment (e.g., vents, A-lines)
  • Ensure timely reassessment and adjust care plans as needed
  • Support patient and family education, discharge planning, and psychosocial needs
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to hospital policies
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
  • Assist with staff orientation and serve as a clinical resource
  • Take on charge nurse responsibilities as assigned
  • Support staffing coverage across units when needed
  • Participate in committees, education, and professional development
  • Engage in research initiatives and continuous learning opportunities

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of ICU experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center required
  • Strong critical care skills including ventilators, tracheostomy care, CRRT, medication titration, and A-lines
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TCAR (must obtain prior to start)
  • AHA Stroke Certification

Preferred Certifications

  • CCRN
  • CRRT
  • TCRN

Schedule

  • 3 days per week
  • Every other weekend required
