Registered Nurse - Full Time Day Shift - Special Procedures
About the role
The Radiology Nurse (RN) at McLeod Health provides direct patient care in the diagnostic and interventional radiology setting. This role supports imaging and minimally invasive procedures by ensuring patient safety, administering medications, and monitoring patients throughout all phases of care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the radiology environment
- Perform pre-procedural assessments, including history, allergies, labs, and consent verification
- Administer IV medications, including moderate sedation
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs and response during procedures
- Recognize early signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions, including emergency response when needed
- Assist physicians during interventional and diagnostic procedures (e.g., biopsies, drain placements, angiography)
- Maintain a sterile field and assist with patient positioning and preparation
- Provide post-procedure care, including recovery monitoring and discharge education
- Accurately document in the medical record
- Maintain and prepare equipment, medications, and supplies for procedures
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize workflow and patient outcomes
- Adhere to all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- BLS (Basic Life Support) — required (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) — required or obtained within 6 months
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred

- Knowledge of sedation practices and emergency interventions
- Familiarity with sterile technique and procedural workflows
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
