About the role
At RWJBarnabas Health, our Outpatient Infusion Center Registered Nurses provide compassionate, specialized care that supports patients throughout every stage of their treatment journey. As an Outpatient Infusion Center RN at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, you'll combine clinical expertise with empathy to deliver advanced infusion therapies in a collaborative outpatient setting. Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and a multidisciplinary oncology team, you'll help patients navigate complex treatments while providing education, reassurance, and exceptional nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Performing comprehensive nursing assessments and coordinating individualized plans of care for patients receiving oncology and infusion therapies
- Safely administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, iron infusions, IV hydration, non-chemotherapy infusions, blood transfusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, injections, and other prescribed infusion treatments
- Monitoring patients throughout treatment, recognizing changes in condition, managing infusion-related reactions, and responding promptly to clinical concerns
- Providing expert care, maintenance, and assessment of venous access devices while ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Delivering compassionate education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, symptom management, side effects, and self-care following infusion therapy
- Collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary oncology team to coordinate seamless, patient-centered care
- Conducting telephone triage, assessing patient concerns, and providing timely clinical guidance to support treatment continuity
- Coordinating multiple appointments while ensuring efficient patient flow and continuity throughout the treatment process
- Maintaining accurate documentation within the electronic medical record while adhering to patient safety, infection prevention, and organizational standards
- Building meaningful relationships with patients and families through compassionate communication, empathy, and a commitment to delivering exceptional outpatient oncology care
Requirements
- Hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Qualifications
- Oncology nursing experience is preferred but not required
- Candidates with hospital, subacute, or ambulatory care nursing experience are encouraged to apply
