About the role

As a registered nurse in the Good Sam Hospital Telemetry Float Pool, you’ll bring sharp clinical judgment, adaptability, and confidence to a wide range of fast-paced patient care settings. You’ll rotate between multiple telemetry and medical-surgical units—supporting diverse patient populations with complex cardiac and medical needs while stepping in during peak demand. This role is dynamic, collaborative, and highly impactful, giving you the opportunity to expand your telemetry expertise and make a meaningful difference across the hospital every shift.

Schedule

  • Full Time – 72 hours bi-weekly
  • 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • 3rd weekend rotation
  • 3rd holiday rotation

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family; documents findings per unit/TriHealth guidelines and communicates them to other health care providers.
  • Plans care based on assessment, standards of care, and desired outcomes; updates plan as needed and communicates it to the healthcare team.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals with patient/family, including discharge planning.
  • Provides a safe, therapeutic environment; maintains patient autonomy, dignity, and rights; sensitive to patient diversity.
  • Recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate action.
  • Completes patient assignment and documentation within scheduled timeframe.
  • Bases interventions on clinical data and desired outcomes; documents accordingly.
  • Trains/educates other staff and acts as an expert resource in specialty area.
  • Effectively communicates and executes physician orders.
  • Evaluates and revises the plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
  • Supervises care delegated to other healthcare team members.
  • Performs technical skills according to policy and procedure; safely administers medications/treatments and monitors effects.
  • Uses all equipment in a safe, appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates organizational responsibilities: identifies areas for self-improvement, functions in relief charge/resource role, completes assignments within scheduled timeframes, and maintains current knowledge in area of practice.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing (Required)
  • New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire (Required)
  • Up to 1 year of clinical experience in a nursing unit-specific area (Required)
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex healthcare needs at various stages of the life cycle
  • Registered Nurse licensure (Required)
  • Preferred membership in a related professional organization
