Registered Nurse Float PII - Nursing Float Pool

Responsibilities

• Moves flexibly between Medsurg, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care units.
• Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, and care provided.
• Assesses and educates patients, family members, and caregivers on their health needs.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Utilizes the Nursing Process to assess and address patient needs.
• Communicates findings to healthcare team members and implements care plans.
• Evaluates patient progress and adjusts care plans accordingly.
• Ensures patient safety and follows patient safety guidelines.
• Shares experiences and best practices regarding patient documentation, equipment use, and order processing.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and research.

Technical Competencies

• Familiarity with clinical policies and standards.
• Knowledge of health information documentation processes.
• Experience with medical equipment and its proper use.
• Understanding of medical order processing and its importance.
• Ability to read and interpret patient charts accurately.
• Knowledge of patient safety guidelines and procedures.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years combined experience in Medsurg/Telemetry and Intermediate Care.
• 5 years of experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• RN license in state of employment or compact required.
• PALS certification required at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital.
• Full-time work schedule: 7PM - 7AM.
