About the Role
The Registered Nurse - Float provides direct clinical patient care under the supervision of the unit manager, assessing, planning, and implementing age-appropriate care for patients across various units. They supervise staff to ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing services, support resource management, and promote staff competency. As part of the float pool, nurses work in diverse environments, including ICU, acute care, telemetry, emergency, BHU, and OR, and must be willing to work across these areas.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic professional knowledge, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree
- 1-3 years of experience
- Maryland RN license
- American Heart Association BLS certification (required for most units)
- Specialty certifications preferred
- Certifications such as ACLS and PALS required depending on unit
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, and deliver patient care across multiple clinical settings
- Supervise and delegate to staff appropriately
- Support quality, safety, and resource management initiatives
- Adapt to different patient care environments within the float pool
