Registered Nurse First Assist - Orthopedics

Essential Responsibilities

• RNFA Standardized Procedure: Provides direct patient care as part of the perioperative role by assisting the surgeon.
• Policy: Adheres to policies of the institution and remains within the scope of practice as stated by the Nursing Practice Act of the State of California.
• Technical Functions: Performs retraction, provides hemostasis, performs knot tying, and assists with closure.

• Workdays: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
• Working Hours Start: 07:00 AM
• Working Hours End: 03:30 PM

Qualifications

• Education: Requires a minimum of 3 years of operating room experience in both the scrub and circulating roles.
• Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Must have a Registered Nurse license (California), be nationally certified as an Operating Room Nurse through the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN), and complete a structured RNFA course and 20 hours or 10 cases of proctoring by the sponsoring surgeon.
• Additional Requirements: Certified in basic Cardiopulmonary life support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
