Registered Nurse Fellow (RN) Transition to Emergency

About the role

Inova Mt Vernon Hospital is seeking an experienced RN interested in transitioning to the ED specialty to participate in our Fellowship program. Eligible nurses qualify for sign‑on and relocation bonuses. The position is full‑time night shift (7 p.m.–7 a.m.); during orientation you will rotate through all shifts (days, mids, and nights). Ideal for experienced nurses looking to change specialties. You will be required to complete a 12‑16 week Emergency Fellowship upon start, with start dates in November 2026 and/or March 2027. Responsibilities

• Provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team.
• Conduct all patient care in a patient and family‑centered manner.
• Use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
• Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.

Requirements

• Experience: minimum of one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN holds an Associates Degree (ADN), must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• License: Must be RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN.
• BLS from American Heart Association.
• Proficient in English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others.
• Proficient computer skills required.

Qualifications

• Preferred candidates will possess 2 years of critical care experience.
• CEN/ACLS certification desired.
