About the role

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Family Birth Center setting. Communicates with Physicians, Nurse Manager, and co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Initiates the computerized Plan of Care on admission. Performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the State of Oregon.
• ACLS and NRP within 6 months of hire.
• EFM once trained in Labor and Delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (required).
• BSN (preferred).
• Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice (preferred).
• Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty (preferred).
• No previous experience required, but previous clinical experience is desired.

Skills

• Sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
• Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Visual acuity for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
• Tactile perception for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care.
• Motor coordination for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for medical equipment and procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment.
• Continuous walking and standing throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
• Frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional lifting or transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, using appropriate lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team assistance.
• May sit for long periods of time.

Working Conditions

• Primarily in an indoor healthcare environment (e.g., hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility).
• Variable indoor temperatures.
• Frequent exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment.
• Fast-paced and unpredictable environment requiring quick response to changing circumstances, including high-pressure or emergency situations.
• Multiple simultaneous demands and varying levels of noise due to medical equipment, staff activity, and patient needs.

Pay

$48.18 – $81.97 per hour.

Schedule

• 24 hours per week.
• Night shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday.
