Registered Nurse (Extended Care - Community Living Center - 42B Jefferson)

About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care;
• Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines;
• Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team;
• Participates in the unit/program level quality improvement process and initiatives as well as customer service programs;
• Determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care;
• Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments;
• Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination;
• Delivers consistent care and improve patient outcomes;
• Demonstrates positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers.

Requirements

The Registered Nurse (Community Living Center) is within the Nursing (Geriatrics and Extended Care) service at the Boston VA Healthcare System located in Brockton, MA. It is permanent and full-time at 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Graduate of a school of professional nursing, Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
• Grade Determinations: The following Scope, Education and Dimension criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade. The Dimension requirements (Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development and Evidence-Based Practice/Research) are detailed for each grade and level within the online assessment.
