Registered Nurse - Endoscopy-Part Time

About the role

Arnot Health offers patient-centered, comprehensive health services to the Southern Tier of New York. The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe and provides care via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. Reports to assigned Unit Director.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients with a variety of needs.
• Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other health care professionals and patients.
• Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient.
• Demonstrate initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate effectiveness of care giving, show follow through on delivery, demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively address actual and potential problems, and execute compliant clinical documentation.
• Assist with educating patients and families and serve as a resource on department standards for patient care.

Schedule

This is a full-time position that includes on-call coverage: 1 night a week, 1 weekend a month. The unit is staffed Monday-Friday with 8 or 10-hour shift options ranging from 6:15am-6:00pm.

Requirements

• Current NYS Registered Nursing license.
• 1 year of Endoscopy RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification must be obtained during introductory period.
• ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of the introductory period.

Physical Demands

• Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard).
• May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions.
• Stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers).
• Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary.
• Must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
