About the Role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
  • Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests.
  • Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
  • Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes.
  • Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Requirements

  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma.
  • 1+ years experience as RN in acute care environment is preferred.
  • BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start.
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • TNCC required within 6 months at Main ER.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.

About the Facility

HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is a 221-bed acute care hospital serving the communities of Seminole and West Volusia County. We are a Level II Trauma Center and provide the only full-service cardiovascular program in the area, offering open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and comprehensive diagnostic services. Other services include orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, acute inpatient medical rehabilitation, and complete imaging services.
