Responsibilities

  • Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
  • Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain
  • In cases of severe illness or trauma, assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
  • Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively; remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events
  • Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology
  • Stay up to date with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker
  • Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

If you have experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care, or Emergency Department, you are encouraged to apply!

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Facility Specific Requirements

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
  • Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current
