Responsibilities
- Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
- Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain
- In cases of severe illness or trauma, assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions, including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
- Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively; remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events
- Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology
- Stay up to date with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

Requirements
- Current and valid state RN License
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
- Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Facility Specific Requirements
- In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
- EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
- Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current
