Responsibilities
- Triage incoming patients based on severity of injury or illness.
- Plan, evaluate, problem-solve, create, and implement a plan of care directed by the Emergency Department provider.
- Administer prescribed medications in accordance with policies and procedures of Community Memorial Hospital.
- Demonstrate accurate assessment skills and proper documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Use effective oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills to ensure proper care is provided.
- Provide appropriate education to patients and families.
- Serve as a patient/family advocate.
- Cooperate and collaborate with all members of the healthcare team.
- Provide professional knowledge of role, as well as rules and regulations that govern nursing practice.
- Apply ethical principles in caring for patients and serving families.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under their Scope of Practice.
- Actively lead a culture of safe care per the Vision and Values of Community Memorial Hospital.
- Promote a healthy interpersonal working relationship, free of judgment, and create a safe environment of care for patients, visitors, and coworkers, treating all parties with dignity and respect.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Director of Emergency Nursing.
Requirements
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree from an approved NYS-accredited nursing program.
- Current licensure by NYS.
- Certification in BLS, PALS, and ACLS.
- Coronary Care, TNCC, and ENPC certifications preferred.
