About the role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with medical providers and other members of the care team to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage”.
  • Serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
  • Affirms patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
  • Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests.
  • Anticipates patient needs and resolves them proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
  • Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes.
  • Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited nursing school, ADN or BSN required.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
  • Current AHA ACLS to be obtained within 90 days of hire; NIH Stroke training to be completed successfully within 90 days of hire; TNCC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire. ENPC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire. PALS is preferred.
  • 1-year experience preferred.
