Responsibilities

  • Assess, collect, and document patient health information while maintaining privacy, dignity, and a therapeutic patient relationship.
  • Apply the nursing process and principles of growth and development to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure care plans are understood and implemented.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care resources, discharge planning, and collaborative interventions to address changes in patient conditions and outcomes.
  • Maintain vigilance for critical values, variances, and patient status changes, utilizing established escalation and outreach protocols.
  • Promote patient safety by preventing hospital-acquired infections, reducing falls, minimizing restraint use, and adhering to infection control practices.
  • Administer medications safely in accordance with policies, medication reconciliation requirements, and the Five Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, evidence-based practices, National Patient Safety Goals, and accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, accountability, and leadership while promoting efficient patient flow and care transitions.
  • Foster teamwork and professional development by mentoring colleagues, supporting staff, adapting to change, and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current Maryland RN license (or eligibility).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • 1 year of acute care experience required. Emergency Department experience preferred.
