Schedule
- Shift 1: Days with weekend and holiday rotation
- Primary hours: 9:00 am – 9:30 pm
- Secondary hours: 10:00 am – 10:30 pm
About the role
The Registered Professional Nurse in the Emergency Service Unit delivers patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation tailored to the ages of patients served. Maintains departmental policies, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Upholds confidentiality of all hospital and staff information. Aligns with Mount St. Mary’s Hospital’s mission to provide quality care in a personal manner with respect for individual human dignity. May be assigned to any Mount St. Mary’s Hospital location as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on clinical practice standards
- Maintain established departmental policies, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
- Answer telephones and schedule appointments
- Maintain logs, patient charts, and research information
- Operate clinical computer information systems, diagnostic equipment, fax, photocopier, and typewriter
- Use power tools and emergency service equipment as required
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current RN licensure in New York State
- Must obtain BLS certification within sixty (60) days of placement
- Must obtain ACLS and PALS certifications within twelve (12) months of placement
- Two (2) years of recent Medical/Surgical experience as a Registered Nurse or one (1) year of recent CCU/ICU and/or Emergency Room experience as a Registered Nurse
- Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
- Working knowledge of all emergency service equipment
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
