About the role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist at Lee Health Home Health is responsible for facilitating the development of clinical excellence in assigned areas through active participation in system, campus, and unit-based orientation, training, on-going staff development, and competency validation. They design, organize, implement, and evaluate learning programs that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, initial and ongoing competence, and attainment of standards of care for direct care providers for assigned units.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development of clinical excellence in assigned areas through active participation in system, campus, and unit-based orientation, training, on-going staff development, and competency validation.
  • Design, organize, implement, and evaluate learning programs that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, initial and ongoing competence, and attainment of standards of care for direct care providers for assigned units.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in multi-disciplinary unit, campus, and system-wide performance improvement teams to enhance safety, patient and staff satisfaction, staff clinical competence, and standards of care.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Masters degree in nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years full-time clinical nursing experience required. Preferably in the setting in which they will work. A minimum of two (2) years of full-time nursing education experience in a formal education role required. A minimum of one (1) year of formal managerial experience required.
  • Licenses: Current Florida RN Licensure. Certification: Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or Certified Nursing Education (CNE) preferred. BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required. (current for at least the first 90 days of employment)
  • Other: Demonstrates a commitment to life-long learning. Memberships in national professional organizations is preferred such as Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) or Certified Nursing Education (CNE). Demonstrates the ability to use advanced computer/software skills such as the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Demonstrates competency in using laptop projector systems for education programs and presentations.
