Registered Nurse - Dialysis (Per Diem, day/evening shift)
About the role
This is a Per Diem Day position, to provide care for patients in both inpatient and outpatients. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe, family-centered patient care.
- Collaborates with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team to implement the Nursing Care Process.
- Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work.
- May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code.
- Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work.
- Performs care management, including lab monitoring, fluid management, medication management, and ensures proper catheter care.
- Empowers patients to manage their treatments independently at home.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments.
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below.)
- Nurses working in the following areas are required to successfully obtain PEARS within 6 months of employment.
Qualifications
- Two years of home peritoneal dialysis (PD) experience is required, with expertise in patient training for home PD, and the ability to empower patients to manage their treatments independently at home.
- Preferred: Pediatric Dialysis experience.
Skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, family-centered care.
- Knowledge of pediatric nursing practices and guidelines.
- Proficiency in managing patient care using the Nursing Care Process.
- Experience in home peritoneal dialysis (PD) care and patient training.

Pay
Compensation Range $51.60 - $91.30 per hour
