Registered Nurse - Dialysis, Per Diem

This is a Per Diem Day position, providing care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, family-centered patient care using the Nursing Care Process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
• Function within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State and ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice.
• Adhere to Seattle Children's policies, procedures, and guidelines of care.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code.
• Incorporate strategic initiatives into daily work, such as Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value-Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, and Workforce Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA).

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Two years of recent experience with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
• Current Washington State RN License or other state license required for the position.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire, unless possessing an appropriate Life Support Education for the practice area. BLS must be maintained until the required Life Support Education is obtained.
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may substitute for BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Specific certifications required based on practice area:
  • PEARS within 6 months: Acute Care Float, Apheresis Services, Bellevue, Cancer Care Unit, Dialysis, Hematology & Oncology Clinic, Home Care Infusion Therapy, Immunology, Immunotherapy, Infusion, Medical Unit, Psychiatric Unit, Rehabilitation Unit, Research nurses in Cancer Care and CCTR, Surgical Unit, Urgent Care (all locations), Vascular Access Services.
  • PALS within 3 months: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Cath Lab & Special Procedures, Clinical Research Center, Critical Care Float, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Transport Control, Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab), Recovery Room (PACU), Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center).
  • BLS at all times: Ambulatory Care Clinics (including consulting nurses), Pre Admission Testing and Coordination Hub (PATCH).
  • PALS within 6 months (Resident nurses): Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Radiology (including Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Lab), Recovery Room (PACU), Surgery (including Bellevue Surgery Center).
  • Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider Card (APHON) within 6 months: Acute Care Float (Nurse Travelers exempt), Cancer Care Unit, Hematology/Oncology, Infusion, BMT Program.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Research training within 6 months: Cancer Care Unit, Hematology/Oncology, Infusion, Immunology, Immunotherapy.
  • Safety Care Certification within 3 months (annual renewal): Psychiatric Unit and Child Psych Consultation Behavior Support Team.
  • Nursing licensure in the WAMI region (Alaska, Montana, Idaho) within 6 months for Dialysis Unit (0.6 FTE or greater).
• For nurses performing moderately complex point-of-care testing: a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest academic achievement must be on record with Human Resources. Foreign-trained personnel must provide documented equivalency evaluation.
• Current Washington State Driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management, if the position requires use of a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Pediatric healthcare nursing experience.

Pay

Compensation range: $51.60 - $91.30 per hour (based on full-time employment of 2080 hours per calendar year). Offers may vary within this range based on equity, skills, experience, and expertise.
