Registered Nurse CVICU

About the role

As a Registered Nurse in the CVICU, your input shapes patient care and nursing practice. You’ll collaborate with leadership and peers through open dialogue and formal channels, influencing decisions that improve outcomes and advance the profession. The role follows established nursing models—“Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage”—to deliver individualized, compassionate care in a 10-bed CVICU at a Level 2 Trauma Center. You’ll serve as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while upholding the organization’s vision, mission, and values to ensure an exceptional patient experience and strong clinical results.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care consistent with departmental standards and state scope of practice.
• Collaborate with providers and the care team to provide comprehensive, compassionate care.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document care in the patient record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.
• Translate complex medical terminology to ensure understanding.
• Teach non-medicinal follow-up measures, including healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
• Prepare patients and families for self-management.
• Lead evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement to meet and exceed quality measures.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, and customize holistic treatment plans that support recovery.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an ADN or BSN degree.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice or holds an active compact license as permitted by law.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of hospital experience; cardiac or acute care experience preferred.
