The Ambulatory and Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and compassionate care delivery in an ambulatory care setting. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, advocates for patient needs, and upholds professional practice standards to promote optimal health outcomes.

About the Location

Advocate Medical Group (AMG), part of Advocate Health, operates over 350 locations across Illinois and Wisconsin, offering primary care, medical and surgical care, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, and more. This role is based at Aurora Internal Medicine in Grafton, WI (215 Washington St.), where internal medicine physicians focus on diagnosing, treating, and preventing complex medical conditions for young adults through seniors. The team includes experienced internists with advanced training in dermatology, endocrinology, neurology, ophthalmology, infectious diseases, and other specialties.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication to lead efforts in creating a safe patient environment and optimal patient experience.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advocate for patient needs and uphold professional practice standards.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching above shoulders, and twisting throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds (patients, medical equipment, and supplies).
• Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures.
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Capability to perform physical safety interventions, such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
• Potential exposure to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable diseases; protective clothing and equipment required as necessary.
• Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required; additional department-specific requirements may apply.
