About the Role
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- May round with physician in an inpatient setting.
- Applies evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to nursing practice, ensuring care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific and clinical needs.
- Demonstrates professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to health and nursing needs.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- No prior experience required.
Licenses and Certifications
- Illinois: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Missouri: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a Compact State.
- Oklahoma: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
- Wisconsin: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a Compact State or Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Physical Requirements
- Constant: Use of speech, standing and walking, vision and depth perception, use of smell, use of hearing.
- Frequent: Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs, sitting, reaching, keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional: Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs, lifting/moving patients, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, driving.
- Rare: Crawling and running.
