This state-of-the-art facility spans 18,900 square feet within a larger 117,000 square feet complex dedicated to orthopedic excellence. The center boasts five advanced operating rooms and includes 20 PACU beds to accommodate a wide range of orthopedic procedures. About the Role
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within appropriate timeframe.
- Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members and diagnostics/laboratory data, reporting abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
- Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, using assessment data and input from the patient, family, and health team.
- Initiates a realistic, measurable plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team, considering physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs.
- Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
- Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed.
- Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
- Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness, and adherence to policy.
- Provides care based on best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Participates in department or facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
- Contributes to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
- May provide relief charge for staff and workflow management of the department.
- Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, delivering excellent service through core and leader behaviors.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required.
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned ASC services for pediatrics.
- Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in OR (other procedural areas considered with Support Center Clinical Educator approval).
- Licensed RN with no OR experience must be enrolled in PeriOp101 program with successful completion within 4 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional OR or perioperative licensed RN experience is strongly preferred.
