Registered Nurse Certified Lactation Consultant

Location: Indianapolis, IN – Ascension St Vincent Women and Infants Hospital, Lactation Center

About the role

Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor. Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding. Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding. Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and demonstrate proper breastfeeding techniques
• Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assist with their development
• Act as a liaison to staff and physicians regarding breastfeeding needs
• Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve lactation outcomes

Requirements

• Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date, OR
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation (AAP) preferred
  • Certification specializing in Lactation preferred
  • Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program preferred
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire
• IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) required
