Registered Nurse - Casual
About the role
This casual Registered Nurse position is based at our Roseville clinic with potential coverage at our Lino Lakes and Hugo clinics. The role provides coverage at all three North Suburban Family Physicians clinics Monday–Friday, with start times between 7:45 am–8:30 am and end times between 4:15 pm–5:00 pm. Nurses are expected and supported to work at the top of their license using protocols embedded in the electronic medical record, Standing Orders, and other resources. The position occasionally involves assisting patients with on-site questions or needs.
Service excellence, centered on patient care and relationships, is the responsibility of all employees. Teamwork and collaboration are essential to providing high-quality service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments to evaluate and address changes in a patient’s condition.
- Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and provide supervision and monitoring of activities.
- Create and implement dynamic teaching plans based on identified patient needs.
- Act as a resource for other staff members.
- Follow the nursing process, including assessment, problem identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in using the nursing process to provide care to patients and families.
- Implement established Nursing Policies and Procedures and Standing Orders.
- Provide emotional, intellectual, and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Document care accurately and completely.
- Share information with other members of the healthcare team and make appropriate patient referrals.
- Use interdisciplinary resources to enhance clinical decision-making.
- Ensure continuity of care among home, office, inpatient settings, and the community.
- Use health coaching techniques to develop individualized patient action plans.
- Utilize population management tools, such as registries, to identify high-risk patients and monitor their care.
- Engage, assess readiness to learn, and educate patients and families to implement care strategies.
- Identify and secure patient services needed for care.
- Support patients and families in making informed decisions and navigating the healthcare system.
- Partner with patients and families to identify needs and develop education plans or nursing referrals.
- Teach techniques or knowledge for prevention, self-care management, or rehabilitation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in terms of patient understanding and application.
- Participate in patient care conferences, in-services, and educational programs.
- Stay current on best practices related to nursing and patient care.
- Serve as a role model in enhancing nursing practice and professional conduct.
- Demonstrate flexibility in performing additional responsibilities to improve patient care and unit functioning.
- Provide support to professional and technical staff.
- Formulate and attain personal and professional goals that promote individual growth and align with organizational values.
- Assess and problem-solve effectively.
- Serve as a catalyst for improving standards of practice.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN licensure in Minnesota.
- Current RN licensure in Wisconsin (must be obtained within two months of hire).
- Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross (maintained continuously; online BLS certification is not acceptable).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of full-time employment as an RN in triage or care management within the last three years.
