About the role

Implements nursing care in accordance with program procedures established by the Director of Business Operations. Hours: 8 hours per week during primary business hours (8:30 am – 4:30 pm).

Responsibilities

  • Administer drugs, medications, treatments, vaccinations, and tests as allowed by law.
  • Implement provider orders and authenticate in writing within a reasonable time, including documentation in the patient record.
  • Provide weekly 1:1 meetings with up to 40 clients when requested, with appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists.
  • Complete other tasks within the scope of registered nurses and the program services and procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of the patient admission process, including:
    • Prescreening new patients for appropriateness for admission, including TB screening.
    • Obtaining physical assessment data and health history.
    • Executing prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by the Director of Business Operations.
  • Assist clients to obtain necessary and appropriate medical appointments, including transportation to and from appointments.
  • Record patient observations and activities accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure.
  • Train all Recovery Advocate staff on self-administration of medication.
  • Actively and compassionately interact with patients to encourage engagement in treatment.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment, applying principles of medical asepsis, infection control techniques, and universal precautions.
  • Provide patient education on health care as assigned or appropriate.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Follow all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection, including 42 CFR (alcohol/drug patient confidentiality) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
  • Attend training on chemical dependency and mental illness as required by employer.
  • Maintain and demonstrate a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license.
  • Experience with clients that are dually diagnosed.
  • Experience working with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
