Registered Nurse Case Manager (1099) – Houston, TX
The IMA Group has partnered with individuals, employers, carriers, and government agencies for over 30 years to improve health and disability outcomes nationwide. We are expanding our Houston team and seeking experienced RN Case Managers to bring their clinical expertise to workers' compensation cases on a flexible, 1099 basis.
About the role
This is an independent, consultative role built around autonomy with a hybrid structure—local travel plus remote documentation. You’ll enjoy flexible scheduling and caseload, focusing on care coordination and recovery outcomes rather than shift work. The role includes an established support team with a steady referral volume, no bedside care, weekends, or on-call requirements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee medical treatment plans for injured workers
- Attend appointments and evaluate treatment progression
- Communicate across providers, employers, attorneys, and carriers
- Assess medical necessity and appropriateness of care
- Prepare timely, detailed case management reports
- Support return-to-work and transitional duty planning
- Coordinate Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and job site evaluations
Requirements
- Active Texas RN license
- 3+ years of Workers' Comp Field Case Management experience
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
- Comfort working independently with a flexible caseload
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems
- Reliable transportation across the greater Houston area
- Malpractice insurance, or the ability to obtain it
CCM, CRRN, or similar certification is a plus. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
