The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients in the Cardiac Unit. The unit focuses on guiding patients on exercise prescriptions, monitoring heart rhythms and blood pressure during exercise, and educating them on various risk factors and mitigation strategies.

Essential Functions

• Assess: Conducts thorough assessments of physical, social, and psychological status, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to gather necessary information.
• Plan: Develops individualized care plans based on assessment findings, involving patients and families in the planning process and ensuring continuity of care post-treatment.
• Implement: Coordinates interdisciplinary care teams, delegating tasks as needed, and ensures patient care is delivered according to the established plan.
• Evaluate: Monitors patient progress against treatment goals, revising care plans as necessary, and ensuring patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
• Professionalism: Promotes the nursing profession, participates in professional development, and adheres to legal and ethical standards in all aspects of care.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025.
• Experience caring for the cardiac and pulmonary patient, recognition of heart rhythms and emergency situations.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for manipulating complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
• Requires ongoing standing, walking, transferring patients, and navigating crowded and busy rooms.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and transport supplies and equipment.

Work Environment

Located at Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana, this position offers 9-hour shifts, 4 days per week, starting at 7:30 or 8:00 AM. The hourly range for this position is $38.37 - $57.29, with actual rates dependent on experience.
