Registered Nurse-Cardiac Cath Lab Procedural-Methodist

Responsibilities

• Performs the various duties related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• This includes scrubbing a case, documenting/monitoring, and circulating during procedure under the supervision of the cardiologist/vascular surgeon.
• Provider circulator role in the Invasive Vascular Labs as assigned.
• Oversight of circulating assistants during procedures.
• Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgement and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Affords assessment of needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
• Communicates effectively with other team members including physicians, nurses, radiologic technologists, clinical partners, and dept secretaries and leaders.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families.
• Participates in taking off-hour call as assigned.
• Continues professional development by involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
• Utilizes a holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.
• Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare providers and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
• Consistently delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Experience: Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• Other: Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• On Call: Return to campus within 30 minutes when called in.
