Registered Nurse Breast Health
Job Summary
The breast health Registered Nurse provides education and emotional support to breast cancer patients, and their family, serving as a liaison between the patient and their treatment providers. He/she provides guidance and helps facilitate timely delivery of diagnostic, treatment and follow-up services that are key components of a successful treatment program.
Essential Functions
- Incorporates assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care
- Reports pertinent information concisely
- Completes accurate, timely documentation, appropriately using computer charting/ordering
- Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives
- Organizes and prioritizes multi-task workload
- Collects and integrates data from multiple sources
- Affords health literacy and incorporates teaching with a focus on health promotion
- Advocates for patient and provides ethical, legal care
- Is proficient in triaging according to the Emergency Nursing Association triage category systems
- Demonstrates department specific skills and competencies, including high-risk, low-volume and problem-prone competencies
- Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork to achieve optimal clinical outcomes within effective time frames
- Maintains contact and provides follow-up with patients prior to, during and after treatment
- Provides patients and families with support for the psychological and psychosocial stresses of a cancer diagnosis and treatment program
- Communicates effectively with physicians, other providers, patients and families
- Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction
- Buils and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience
- Required: Registered Nurse Licensure, American Heart Association BCLS
- PREFERRED: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, Certified Oncology Nurse, minimum 2-4 years oncology experience, case management or patient navigation experience
