Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health, Full-Time, Night Shift

About the Role

With the leadership of the Manager, the Registered Nurse functions as an interactive resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. The Registered Nurse coordinates and performs direct nursing care for patients, utilizing concepts of the nursing process. Serves as a resource, preceptor, mentor, and leader for physicians, professional peers, and other employees, and provides participative supervision to the Patient Care Team Members in collaboration with the Patient Manager.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates closely with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the patients’ plan of care and the patients’ outcomes.
• Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills and delegates tasks to other Care Team members according to unit-specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Responsible for and monitors the quality of patient care and patient satisfaction.
• Accurately and independently pursues professional development opportunities.
• Assumes responsibility to assure the daily operations of the Patient Care Center are effectively and efficiently maintained.
• Works within the accepted service standards and supports the Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
• Works in partnership with other patient care team members and proactively identifies and provides for individual patient, family, and physicians needs, exceeding their expectations.
• Knows, follows, and actively supports the philosophy, mission, and Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
• Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate parties.
• Completes annual department competency checklist.
• Facilitates assigned groups in ways which encourage and require maximum patient participation and interaction, appropriate to the functional level of group members.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree in Nursing or higher.
• Must hold a current RN Licensure from the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or valid temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing (preferred).
• Previous Behavioral Health or related experience providing care to patients within at least the last five years (preferred).
• Good knowledge of the principles and practice of psychiatric and addiction treatment (preferred).
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills when dealing with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
• Ability to function in an extended team environment and work in a fast-paced setting.
• Prior experience working with patients with addiction issues (preferred).

Schedule

• Full Time, 12-hour shifts.
• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM.

Pay

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience, and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
