Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

About the role

This is a full-time Inpatient RN position specializing in behavioral health within an emergency setting. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing psychiatric, substance use, or emotional crises. It requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, social workers, and security, to ensure patient safety and effective stabilization. The unit includes a specialized EmPATH area for lower acuity behavioral health patients. Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, including behavioral health and suicide risk evaluations
• Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs throughout care
• Develop and coordinate individualized care plans, including patient and family education, discharge planning, and crisis interventions
• Administer treatments, medications, and diagnostic procedures per policies
• Evaluate intervention effectiveness and adjust care plans accordingly
• Collaborate proactively with team members to resolve patient needs
• Implement crisis stabilization techniques, monitor risks like self-harm, aggression, and withdrawal symptoms
• Maintain safety protocols, including suicide precautions and observation levels
• Serve as a behavioral health resource for emergency staff and participate in safety and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year behavioral health experience; 2 years preferred
• Graduate from a nursing specialty training program; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively
• Flexibility with scheduling, including self-scheduling options

Schedule

Night shifts with every other weekend and holiday work required.
