Registered Nurse

Student Health Service at the University of Pittsburgh provides high quality primary health care, prevention, health education, and pharmacy services to enhance student living and learning. Primary care services include management of both acute and chronic conditions as well as travel health and provision of gender-affirming care. Gynecological services include STI screening, age-specific screenings, and full contraceptive management. Psychiatric services include management of mood disorders and ADHD. Accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), these services uphold rigorous standards of quality and safety, promoting a healthy environment conducive to academic success.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates illnesses and injuries, including health options, triage, dressing changes, specimen collection, venipunctures, IV therapies, simple suture removal, referrals, and medication administration.
• Collaborates with clinical staff to develop departmental policies and clinical procedures for health/clinical services, ensuring continuity of patient care.
• Assists physicians and clinical staff in planning and implementing patient care.
• Observes, documents, and communicates patient symptoms, potential problems, and pertinent information to physicians and clinical staff.
• Charts doctor orders, coordinates departmental services, and guides the student health referral process.
• Documents treatment, office visits, and monthly statistics; enters records into an electronic database accurately and timely.
• Completes reports, requisitions, and informational materials as directed.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and creates supply orders.
• Ensures a clean, safe, and inviting environment while complying with all health regulations.

Requirements

• Associate of Science in Nursing (minimum education level required).
• No prior experience required.
• RN licensure/certification required.

Physical Effort

Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand or move for several hours at a time. May need to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional evening work may be required.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid: Combination of on-campus and remote work as determined by the department.
