About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members.
Responsibilities
- Counsels and educates patients and families regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and self-care.
- Monitors patient’s condition and assesses their needs to provide the best possible care and advice.
- Performs appropriate treatments and administrations of medication, immediate and ongoing, as ordered by provider in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the patient and his/her family.
- Documents patient condition, assessment findings, and physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution.
- Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
- Maintains confidentiality as well as providing care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
- Observes and interprets patient’s symptoms and communicates them to providers and other staff during shift change.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited institution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited institution.
- Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited institution.
- Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 days.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
- Proficient in using Electronic Health Record (EMR) for patient-level care and coordination.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others to improve quality and address needs.
