Job Summary
The licensed registered nurse is responsible for providing evidence-based clinical care to designated patients using the nursing process. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring patient outcomes.
Job Duties
- Determine appropriate nursing interventions to meet each patient outcome.
- Maintain current skills, knowledge, and competencies in area of specialty.
- Utilize evidence-based practice, research, clinical judgment, and nursing skills based on psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences.
- Document care provided using the Patient Data Base, PFER, Care Maps, Progress Notes, Flow Sheets, and other forms as required.
- Exhibit critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Serve as the patient's advocate.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan and deliver care.
Patient Safety
- Demonstrate proficiency in the administration of medication and treatment as prescribed by physicians, dentists, or advanced registered nurse practitioners.
- Prepare and administer medications in the prescribed dosage, route, frequency, and observe, record, and report responses, untoward reactions, and side effects of drug therapy.
- Contact appropriate Management/Administrative Staff as needed.
- Observe and follow patient safety alerts by accurately and timely entering patient safety alerts in the chart and/or clinical documentation system.
Quality/Customer Service
- Participate in unit-based PI activities to positively impact patient outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate quality of care with focus on patient safety and nurse-sensitive indicators by identifying areas for improvement and assisting in developing action plans.
- Serve as a clinical resource to unit/department and to new associates.
- Know Patient Satisfaction goals and expectations to meet customer needs in a positive and professional manner.
- Aid in adherence to JCAHO, state, and other regulatory requirements.
Financial Responsibility
- Supports in maintaining budget (s) within established targets by assisting with setting priorities, appropriately allocating resources, and completing charges.
- Utilizes supplies and resources in a cost-effective manner, facilitates patient throughput, documents thoroughly, and consistently being on time and productive.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- If eligible, must have a Compact (multi-state) License in their primary state of residence.
- Licensed to practice in the state where work is being performed.
- Moves and lifts up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
