Pay

Range of pay: $52,300.64 - $54,111.68 (10-month/196-day position). While in effect, additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2026-27 school year, the amount for this position is $6,750 and will be prorated from July 1, 2026.

Qualifications

• Current Florida RN license.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Three (3) years of experience in a school or hospital setting preferred.
• Preferred experience in School Health, Pediatrics, and/or NICU.

Skills

• Ability to observe students for development and health patterns, using knowledge of child growth and development, medical disorders, and treatment to make nursing judgments and diagnoses.
• Ability to implement plans for students with chronic health problems and coordinate medication administration within State law and Board policies.
• Ability to file appropriate forms for Medicaid billing.
• Ability to administer acute care to individual students with disabilities.
• Proficiency in using computers and related software.
• Adherence to confidentiality in all matters according to HIPAA.
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
• Highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies.
• Enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, community, and health/social service agencies.
• Supervision of LPNs and school-based health assistants as directed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and school-based health assistants to ensure efficient functioning of School Clinics.
• Participate in the development of Individual Student Health Care Plans and Emergency Care Plans; review, update, and approve care plans as needed.
• Assess the needs of school nurses and provide support and improvement measures; recommend corrective action as needed.
• Orient and instruct new health-related employees.
• Act as liaison between school nurses and outside medical providers, agencies, and offices.
• Develop positive working relationships.
• Coordinate and conduct required health screenings; provide training to volunteers and staff for screenings.
• Review health and immunization records for compliance; counsel students, parents, and medical providers concerning health problems.
• Provide in-service training for school staff and health education for students in classrooms and individually.
• Plan and implement procedures for chronically ill students, including catheterizations, nebulization, and gastro-intestinal feeding.
• Participate in ESE and 504 meetings for students, if required.
• Represent the district at meetings with outside health agencies.
• Coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agencies, and other community resources.
• Complete state and local reports as required.
• Serve on the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).
• Provide health review and services to students identified as Families in Transition (FIT).
• Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as needed or directed by supervisor.

Physical Requirements

Light to Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift students and move objects or equipment.
