Registered Nurse

About the role

A Registered Nurse at Melmark is responsible for managing and resolving health issues among individuals in our school program or residential areas. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual health care needs based on age and population. The role involves maintaining operational aspects of assigned health care areas and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the direct provision of safe, efficient, quality nursing care.
• Ensures nursing care delivered aligns with Melmark's philosophy, goals, and objectives.
• Ensures adherence to Nursing standards and policies and procedures.
• Aids in the development of policies and procedures under the guidance of the Executive Director.
• Communicates changes in policy and procedures to staff and provides feedback from staff to the Executive Director.
• Maintains the effectiveness, quality, and accuracy of individual care delivery.
• Maintains and utilizes medical records for timely development of nursing care plans and treatment plans.
• Maintains medical records for complete and accurate documentation of the nursing process.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; Registered Nurse considered.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Massachusetts Board of Nurse Examiners.
• A valid US driver’s license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old.
• Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status.
• Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.
• Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and Melmark’s Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in a developmental disability setting with minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.

Skill(s)

• Strong general nursing skills with emphasis on the care of individuals who are emotionally, behaviorally, neurologically, or developmentally disabled.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
