Responsibilities
- Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provide direct patient care within the RN scope of practice in the Telemetry unit.
- Direct and guide patient/family teaching and supervise other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards.
- Be directly responsible and accountable for care delivered to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Communicate changes in patient clinical condition and diagnostic results to physicians.
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response.
- Understand and apply EMTALA regulations; report suspected child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies and the Hospital Social Worker.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN license.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; Emergency Room experience preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Facility-specific requirements:
- In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
- EDAP-certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
- Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate within 90 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months of hire required.
