Responsibilities

• Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions
• Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
• Run therapeutic groups and perform psychiatric crisis intervention
• Administer seclusion and restraint of patients as needed
• Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms
• Perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
• Operate medical machinery and administer treatment and medications
• Assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
• Teach patients and their families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy
• Perform other related duties on inpatient behavioral health units
• Maintain working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
• Complete Behavioral Violence Prevention training within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care

Employment Status: Part Time > 59 hours per week
