Responsibilities
- Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions
- Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members
- Run therapeutic groups and perform psychiatric crisis intervention
- Administer seclusion and restraint of patients as needed
- Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms
- Perform diagnostic tests and analyze results
- Operate medical machinery and administer treatment and medications
- Assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation
- Teach patients and their families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy
- Perform other related duties on inpatient behavioral health units
- Maintain working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
- Complete Behavioral Violence Prevention training within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually
Qualifications
- Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards
- Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care
Employment Status: Part Time > 59 hours per week
Shift: Evenings
