About the role
The successful candidate will work in the Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services Branches of the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA).
Responsibilities
- Administer and record medication, immunizations, and treatments.
- Obtain necessary laboratory specimens, evaluate results, and complete charges on patient records.
- Arrange for appointments and referrals of patients.
- Provide education and counseling to clients with various health conditions.
- Give instructions to patients and family on medications, diet, and medical procedures.
- Attend various meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- A valid Registered Nurse License issued by the California State Board of Nursing.
Qualifications
- Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Be eligible for loan repayment of up to $16,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an underserved community.

- Vacation Accrual: 2 weeks per year (0-3 years of service), 3 weeks per year (3-7 years of service), 4 weeks per year (7-11 years of service), 5 weeks per year (11+ years of service).
- Sick Leave Accrual: 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation, 60 hours of which may be used toward family sick leave.
- Career Incentive Pay: Employees who have completed five (5) or more Years of Service with Tulare County and meet the eligibility criteria described in Administrative Regulation - 52, earn additional pay according to the schedule below.
- Group Term Life Insurance and AD&D: $10,000; Provided by Standard Insurance Company.
- Disability Insurance: Employees are covered by State Disability Insurance. The premium is paid by the employee.
- Deferred Compensation: A voluntary deferred compensation plan is available.
