About the role
Collaborates with patients, families, and staff across all disciplines and departments in a community healthcare center to plan, organize, and direct clinical support staff.
Responsibilities
- Performs Charge Nurse Duties in absence of Charge Nurse.
- Oversees assigned staff, establishes work assignments, oversees unit flow, and identifies staffing needs.
- Contributes to performance evaluations and serves as a support lead to the charge nurse.
- Helps identify and participate in process improvement strategies.
- Supports staff development and provides coaching/counseling on clinical skills and knowledge.
- Assesses physical, social, and emotional needs of patients and families.
- Teaches and counsels patients and families on health assessment, care, prevention, hygiene, and health maintenance.
- Identifies patient needs for referral to resources and coordinates with care management team.
- Provides direct nursing care, distributes medications, and administers treatments according to standards.
- Completes care documentation in a timely manner and ensures patient records are current and complete.
- Maintains daily/weekly quality assurance checklists, including delegation of tasks (Rider report, class D, McKesson, CLIA, AED, equipment checks).
- Ensures compliance with state vaccine policies (VFC/ASN).
- Attends clinic codes, performs chart audits, de-escalates crisis situations, and seeks guidance from supportive personnel.
- Participates in patient care huddles and clinic staff informational meetings.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Acts as site lead in absence of Nurse Manager Operations/Practice Leader.
- Manages communication processes to support quality of care and patient experience.
- Develops favorable internal relationships and partnerships with team members.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to achieve common goals.
- Knowledgeable in medical practices and procedures in a healthcare environment.
- Experienced in direct patient services and proper use of medical devices and equipment.
- Familiar with health care environment tools, technology, and systems.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas.
- Current healthcare provider CPR course completion card.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience as a nurse.
