About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) triages patients by telephone or walk-in to determine the urgency and level of care needed. The RN assists the Practice Manager in supervising clinical support staff and provides patient care under the guidance of CHP Physicians. This role contributes to a caring, collaborative, and innovative work environment while supporting CHP's mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate comprehensive care for all patients.
  • Provide relevant patient education, both written and verbally, including during the initial pregnancy visit, post-operative, and post-partum.
  • Make patient appointments and coordinate timely scheduling for ancillary services and specialty referrals.
  • Respond to patient emergencies within the scope of RN license.
  • Screen, triage, and respond to patient inquiries via telephone, EMR messages, or walk-in; approve same-day visits when appropriate; assist with referrals to specialists; handle PT-1 forms, patient education, and supervise medical assistants as needed.
  • Assist physicians in procedures requiring nursing support; administer immunizations and allergy shots; manage prescription medication requests; process laboratory results, review and flag abnormal results for provider review, and contact patients with results as directed.
  • Assist with running daily controls on equipment; perform quality assurance charting (e.g., HCG, strep, sickle cell, urinalysis dipstick); ensure correct billing codes; and perform other routine office duties as requested.
  • Assist with rooming patients to maintain patient flow.
  • Answer staff questions within scope of practice.
  • Provide staff training as assigned by the Practice Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • RN and/or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in an ambulatory setting preferred; recent experience in a medical office/outpatient setting is a plus.
  • Electronic medical records experience required; experience with Athena is a plus.
  • Licensed as an RN by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
