About the role

The CCU Registered Nurse (RN) at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME, provides direct, high-quality patient care to adults with cardiac conditions. This position utilizes the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to monitor cardiac status, respond to changes in patient condition, and implement evidence-based interventions. Collaboration with physicians and the healthcare team, directing patient and family education, supervising other nursing personnel, and ensuring CCU standards of care, patient safety, and confidentiality are key responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adults in the CCU, including monitoring cardiac status and implementing interventions.
• Apply the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all care, interventions, and patient observations while maintaining patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate promptly with physicians and healthcare teams regarding clinical changes, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
• Educate patients and families on cardiac disease processes, treatments, and care plans.
• Supervise and collaborate with other nursing personnel, maintaining CCU standards of care.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and rapid changes in patient condition.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
