Registered Nurse
Job Description
Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.
Safety and Compliance
- Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
- Ensures appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities.
- Fulfills proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters.
- Maintains and ensures the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
Documentation and Reporting
Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients.
Teaching and Patient Education
Educates patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interacts with patient and family in a caring, professional manner.
Triage and Communication
Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.
Supplies and Inventory Management
Assists with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommends purchase of new items as needed. Completes annual required safety and nursing trainings. Attends all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
Training and Development
Absorbs and implements new job duties and responsibilities as assigned. Assists in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.
Education and Certifications
- Nursing Degree
- Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi-state license
- Certified CPR and BLS
- Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
Experience and Skills
- Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
- Strong critical thinking skills, ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills

- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required. EMR proficiency.
Work Schedule
Standard Core Workdays/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. #AONN
