Registered Nurse
About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join a leading academic dermatology practice in New Haven County. This position supports a fast-paced dermatology surgery team and offers a unique blend of patient interaction, clinical coordination, quality improvement, and research support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced telephone triage, assessing patient needs and providing guidance based on established clinical protocols.
- Review, audit, and manage medical and laboratory data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-up.
- Document and maintain patient information within the EPIC electronic medical record system.
- Communicate test results and care plan updates to patients via phone and patient portal, ensuring provider-directed diagnoses and interpretations are conveyed appropriately.
- Provide patients with clear follow-up instructions and education regarding treatment plans and next steps.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and clinical records in accordance with organizational standards.
- Monitor and manage clinical supply inventory, ensuring adequate stock and organization.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and process improvement efforts.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new clinical staff.
- Participate in research activities and departmental projects when applicable.
- Collaborate closely with dermatologists and specialists to support high-quality, patient-centered care.
Required Qualifications
- Active Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing education.
- Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.
- Strong telephone triage and patient assessment experience.
- Proficiency using electronic medical records, preferably EPIC.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Strong attention to detail and clinical documentation abilities.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience reviewing clinical and laboratory data.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of RN experience in a medical office or outpatient setting.
- Dermatology nursing experience.
- Previous experience in an academic medical center or research-focused environment.
- Advanced EPIC experience.

Schedule
Monday-Friday
Typical Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:45 PM
Early Fridays: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM finish
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
