Job Summary
The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
About the Role
Putnam Hospital, a 164-bed acute care hospital, has been serving the local community in Carmel, New York for 60 years. Situated on a 150-acre wooded campus surrounded by lakes and waterways, we provide the essential services a community needs from their local hospital, including Emergency and Behavioral Health Services.
Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.
- Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care.
- Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems.
- Is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
- Treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- BLS required, ACLS credentialing within one year of hire.
- Professional nursing experience of one or more years desirable.
- Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
- Specialty unit employees for areas such Endoscopy and the Minor Room.
- Must meet clinical competency standards specific to the assigned patient care area.
Qualifications
- Physical & Other Factors: Position requires considerable walking, standing, moderate lifting.
- Work & Environmental Conditions: Exposed to patient elements and handling of emergencies and critical patient incidents.
Skills
Position requires significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
