About the role
This position is an Assistant Nurse Manager role at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), overseeing outpatient dialysis and apheresis, as well as inpatient core teams. It is a salaried position requiring a BSN degree.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Nurse Manager in maintaining financial stewardship at the unit level through effective resource utilization and operational oversight.
- Executes and monitors systems to ensure appropriate staffing, assignments, and daily operational coverage.
- Aids in managing unit performance against budgeted cost per unit of service, productivity targets, and staffing benchmarks.
- Ensures efficient use of hospital resources related to daily operations, clinical programming, and unit-based education.
- Aids with operational planning to support student placements, clinical experiences, and onboarding needs.
- Supports implementation and sustainability of new workflows, technologies, and care models in collaboration with nursing leadership.
- Promotes a safe, reliable care environment through consistent adherence to policies, standards, and patient safety initiatives.
- Implements and evaluates unit-based quality improvement initiatives under the direction of the Nurse Manager, with measurable impact on quality, cost, and resource utilization.
- Collaborates with clinical leaders, advanced practice providers, and frontline staff to support action plans for continuous improvement in care delivery.
- Contributes to a high-performing practice environment through effective supervision, change management, and alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
Requirements
- Previous experience with human relations, human & material resource management
- One (1) year Progressive leadership experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing practice standards, evidence-based practice, and regulatory/accreditation requirements
- Unit-based operations, staffing models, productivity metrics, and resource utilization
- Financial fundamentals, including cost per unit of service and operational efficiency
- Quality improvement methods, nursing-sensitive indicators, and patient experience measures
- Professional governance, professional practice models, and interdisciplinary care delivery
- Change management principles and organizational priorities
- Effective leadership communication, coaching, feedback, conflict mediation across disciplines, and facilitation of collaborative problem-solving
- Staff performance management, development planning, and engagement strategies
- Operational execution, rapid prioritization, and effective coordination of resources in complex, time-sensitive environments
- Data analysis and proactive risk identification to anticipate operational, staffing, or patient flow concerns and initiate timely mitigation strategies
- Collaboration with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary team
- Support of quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and change initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing

SALARY RANGE: $107,200.00 - $142,100.00 Annually
