Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager)

About the role

The Summary Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing daily unit operations, supervising staff, and ensuring quality care. They provide orientation, training, and performance input. They serve as a leader, educator, and role model, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to improve care, solve barriers, and implement evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a leader, educator, and clinical resource, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to improve care outcomes, remove barriers, and implement evidence-based practices.
• Supports the Nurse Manager with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the operations of their designated units.
• Oversees staff orientation, training, competency development, and contributes to performance evaluations.
• Covers for other ANMs as needed to ensure continuity of care.
• Serves as a clinical leader, educator, role model, and resource for unit staff.
• Participates in the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
• Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).

Requirements

• Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency, Current - full - active - and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia, Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception, Credit for foreign nursing education higher than associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD), Current - full - active - and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia, Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception, Credit for foreign nursing education higher than associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD)

Qualifications

• Nurse I - Level I: Deliver fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical competencies.
• Nurse I - Level II: Demonstrate integration of biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills and technically competent practice in providing care to clients with basic or complex.
• Nurse I - Level III: Demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning, self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations.
• Nurse II: Demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
• Nurse III: Execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex client care beyond the immediate practice setting.

Skills

• Management experience preferred
• Minimum of 1 year Team lead or supervisory experience required
• 2-5 years of interventional procedural area highly preferred
• Endoscopy experience preferred
• A-CLS required - conscious sedation experience required (minimum 3 years)
• B-SN preferred
