Responsibilities And Duties

  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Provides high standard of courtesy and cooperation.
  • Prompts and efficient with minimal absences.
  • Carries out nursing interventions safely and accurately.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Works independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Prioritizes workloads in coordination with team members and OR Nurse Manager.
  • Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
  • Captures patient schedules.
  • Coordinates job responsibilities of team members during absences.
  • Arranges needed supplies and equipment.
  • Creates a working climate that promotes growth and job satisfaction.
  • Performs accurate, concise, and timely documentation in the nursing unit and patient’s record.
  • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and maintains IV and Venous Access Ports (VAP) according to Hospital policies.
  • Assists with lab draws as needed.
  • Operates IV pumps.
  • Applies and maintains Wound Vac Pumps and dressing changes.
  • Assists with minor procedures in the procedure room with providers.
  • Assists in Surgery with Admission and Discharge when needed.
  • Operates all equipment and performs all procedures in nursing department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, abilities, and skills required to perform a wide variety of nursing functions.
  • Computes drug dosages accurately.
  • Completes unit specific competencies as scheduled.

Job Requirements

  • A valid NYS Nursing License.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
  • Outstanding organizational ability.
  • A great team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Even-tempered with emotional and physical stamina.
  • Experience in Cardiac Procedures.
  • At least one year of Ambulatory Surgery experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience with high-acuity orthopedic procedures, Endoscopy procedures, Transfusions, and dressing changes.
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
